Vices and vultures?

"I've always thought that smoking was cool. I tried starting with Nicorette patches and working my way up".

I've never really had too many vices. I say this not in a self-righteous way; I was never cool enough to acquire any. Two pints of Magners or three Malibu and Cokes would leave me bleary eyed, bolshy and ready to stagger home to bed. Cigarettes consumed passively place me in fits of convulsive coughing and a morning walk on Tyndall Street is often through a fog of cannabis, enough for you to strip the office vending machines whilst trying to satisfy the munchies.

So, my battle is against a natural inclination to disorder and abject laziness. Perhaps for this reason I've always had a fondness for birds of prey: in the wild - pitiless, efficient hunters; in captivity, if they are over-fed ('fed up'), they pointedly refuse to fly, prefering to rest and slowly digest their meal. So, - having risen in time for the 7.11 train and seeing the day yawn chasmically before me - I think I'll just sit here on my perch and finish my mouse...
